DESCRIPTION
Day 1: Marrakech – Tadart-Telouet – Ait Ben Haddou -Tinfou dunes
Pick up at Marrakech at 7:00 am. We will drive for approximately two hours through the Atlas Mountains via the Tizi ‘n Tichka pass, stopping for photos along the way and stopping to have breakfast. We will stop to visit the town of Telouet and its ancient 17th century kasbah.
Then we will go in the direction of Ourzazate, where we will visit the UNESCO protected Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. We will have lunch there and then visit the Atlas Film Studios.
Afterwards we will pass through Agdez, many other Berber villages and Draa Valley with its Palmeraie. Then we go to the center of Tinfou village, where we leave our driver. We ride camels for an hour and half to the camp. We arrive to the camp half an hour before sunset. We will have tea with the nomads and a little later dinner. Afterwards you enjoy the evening, sitting around the open fireplace and listening to the magic and secrets of authentic Berber music.
Day 2: Tamegroute – Erfoud – Merzouga
We will have to go up early in the morning to see the sunrise. It’s an amazing experience due to the silence and quick change of all the shades of Orange. After that we will have breakfast and quit the desert after a beautiful night, spent in typical tents. Afterwards we will visit the village Tamegroute with the pottery kilns, the Koranic library and the underground kasbah. We will also enjoy some tea in a Berber family.
Departure to Erfoud via n’Kob, the palm Mellal, Tazzarine and Alnif through a vast rocky plain. Lunch along the way. After lunch we will pass through the towns of Arfoud and Rissani in direction to Merzouga, home of Erg Chebbi, the tallest sand dunes in Morocco. We will arrive at the hotel in the late afternoon/early evening, where you will have some time to relax at the swimming pool and to have Berber tea. Around 5:30pm we will ride the camels from the hotel for about one hour and a half through the desert dunes. We will arrive at the Berber tents, have some time to relax, drink Berber tea with nomads at the camp and go into the dunes to watch the sunset. Dinner will be at the camp, followed by music around the open fireplace. Dinner and night are spent at Merzouga luxury desert camp .
Day 3: Erfoud – Todra – Tinerhir- Dades Valley (walking 1h.30min)
Upon arrival in the desert of Merzouga, we will explore most of its territory and later the village of Khemlia, where local people from black Africa play their traditional music and where every year in August is a famous festival. You will then visit the lake Dnit Srji, famous for its pink flamingos and birdwatchers. Departure for Tinerhir through the Todra Gorge, natural high rocky cliffs. Lunch and free time. Dinner and overnight in a comfortable and nice guesthouse.
Day 4: Tinerhir – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Departure for Ouarzazate, nicknamed the road of the “Thousand Kasbahs”. A sublime landscape scrolls: clay fortified villages, kasbahs, ksours , the valley of Roses. Lunch and afterwards visit of the most famous kasbahs in the region: the kasbah Taouirt and Ait Ben Haddou, UNESCO protected world cultural heritage and location of numerous film productions as for example “Gladiator”. Afterwards we go back to Marrakesh by Tizin Tichka pass. We will arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
