DESCRIPTION

Day 1: Marrakech – Atlas Mountains – Telouet – Ouarzazate – Aid Ben Haddou – Draa valley – Dune of Tinfou

Pick up at Marrakech at 7:00 am. We will drive for approximately two hours through the Atlas Mountains via the Tizi ‘n Tichka pass, stopping for photos along the way, and stopping to have breakfast. We will stop to visit the town of Telouet and its ancient 17th century kasbah. Then we will go in the direction of Ourzazate, where we will visit the UNESCO protected Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. We will have lunch here and then visit the Atlas Film Studios.

In the afternoon we will pass Agdez and and many Berber villages and then visit Draa valley and it’s Palmeraie. After that we go to the center of the Tinfou village and leave our driver there. We ride camels for an hour and half to the camp. We arrive to the camp half hour before sunset. After enjoying these marvelous moments in the dunes, we will have tea with the nomads and in the evening dinner. Around the open fireplace the nomads will play with darboukas (local drums) and sind traditional Berber lyrics.

Day 2: Tinfou – Zagora – Agdez – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

We go up early in the morning to see the sunrise. It’s an amazing experience. After that you will have breakfast and leave the desert after a beautiful night, spent in the desert tented camp. We will return to Marrakech in the evening.

DESCRIPTION

The Dades river originates in the High Atlas, flowing some 350 kilometres southwest before joining the Draa River at the edge of the Sahara. The many-colored walls of the gorges range anywhere from 200 to 500 meters.

Dades valley is also called « valley of thousand kasbah », located among superb landscapes, oasis, weird shape mountains and typical villages. We go from Ouarzazate to Tinherir via Roses valley, which is advised to be seen around May. The deep Dades canyon offers an astonishing view. Dinner on site, overnight in a typical Berber hotel-restaurant.

DESCRIPTION

The Draa is Morocco’s longest river. It is formed by the confluence of the Dadès River and Imini River. It flows from the High Atlas mountains south-(east)ward to Tagounite and from Tagounite mostly westwards to the Atlantic Ocean. Most of the year the part of the Draa after Tagounite falls dry.

Draa valley crosses unique landscapes and Berber villages to finally stop on Sahara sand dunes. It is located between Ouarzazate and M’hamid and is also named desert’s entrance door. We visit Agdz, Tamegroute and Zagora and have lunch. Overnight in M’hamid.

DESCRIPTION

About 160 km away from Ouarzazate we visit one of the most beautiful palm groves from Morocco: Tinerhir (also named Tinghir) and Todra canyon, a few kilometres away from the city. The canyon is more than 300 meters deep and appreciated by rock climbers. We spend the night and have dinner in a typical hotel-restaurant.

Todra canyon is located in the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco, near the town of Tinerhir. Both the Todra and neighbouring Dades Rivers have carved out cliff-sided canyons on their final 40 kilometres through the mountains. The last 600 metres of the Todra canyon are the most spectacular. Here the canyon narrows to a flat stony track, in places as little as 10 metres wide, with sheer and smooth rock walls up to 160 metres high on each side.

Oasis de Fint

DESCRIPTION

The green valley of Fint – located between the Arid mountains – impresses with many palm plantations. The gardens are carefully cultivated, the villages with traditional cob-coloured houses perfectly integrated into the surroundings.

Fint oasis ist 15 km away from Ouarzazate. Our trip is including a ten-kilometer-trek and at its end the visit of the magnificent and very quiet oasis and its Berber village. Lunch. You have the possibility, to ride back on donkies, passing the surrounding mountains (donkey ride is not included in the price).

DESCRIPTION

1st. day:

Departure at 8 a.m., the pass of Tichka, Kasbah Talouet. Visit of Ait Ben Haddou (Unesco World Cultural Heritage). Overnight in the hotel in Ouarzazate.

2nd. day:

Roses valley, Dades valley. Visit of Dades Gorge. Overnight in the hotel in Dades.

3rd day:

Tinherir and visit of Todra Gorge. Overnight in the hotel in Todra.

4th. day:

We go to to Erfoud, Rissani and Merzuga desert. Dromadary ride in the dunes. Evening under starry sky. Traditional atmosphere: In the evening you will share an excellent dinner next to a fire place, then followed by darboukas (local drums), lyrics and traditional dances. Overnight in typical nomadic tents (or in the hotel near the dunes).

5 h day:

In the morning return to the hotel by dromedary. Departure for Zagora. Afterwards we visit the village Tamegroute. Dinner and overnight in a local family’s home in Tamegroute or in the hotel, you have the choice.

6th day:

Return to Ouarzazate through the Draa valley. Lunch in the Tamnougalt Kasbah. In the afternoon we visit the Fint Oasis. Overnight in the hotel.

7th day:

Return to Marrakech before lunchtime
